The parent or a designated adult is to be with the child at the bus stop both in the morning and in the evening.
--------------------------------------
For the safety of your child it is important for us to know whether to expect him/her on the school bus. If your child is going to be absent please call the school by 8:20 AM to let the teacher know that he/she will not be at school that day.
-----------------------------------------
Bus Changes – Please send a note by your child if there is to be a change in the way your child will go home in the afternoon. Please do not call the school. If no written notification is received, your child will follow his/her regular method of getting home.
--------------------------------------------
Below are the school bus safety rules that your child should know when he/she rides the bus. Please help your child learn them this summer. Children love to role play so this would be a great time to pretend to ride the bus with your child and help them learn the rules.
SAFETY PROCEDURES AT THE BUS STOP
- Be ready and waiting at the bus stop.
- Do not wait, play, or run in the road at the bus stop.
- Stay back from the curb as the bus approaches.
- Wait till the bus stops completely and opens the door before moving close.
SAFETY PROCEDURES FOR ENTERING THE BUS
- Keep one hand free to use the handrail and take one step at a time.
- Take your seat quickly and quietly.
- Don’t push or shove in line.

- Keep head, hands, and arms inside the window.
- Keep books, lunch box, and backpack in your lap and don’t let them fall, slide or lay in the floor.
- Never mess with any equipment inside the bus.
SAFETY PROCEDURES FOR EXITING THE BUS
- Get off only at your stop.
- Do not get out of your seat until the BUS STOPS.
- If you drop anything near or under the bus, let it stay there until the bus leaves.
- Do not push or shove getting off.
- Use the handrail and take one step at a time.
- Move away from the bus as you get off.
- If you cross the road, watch for the driver’s signal.
- Always cross the road in front of the bus.
