CELLULAR PHONE POLICY
Students at SCHS are permitted to bring and use cell phones at school. Their use is limited to the cafeteria in the morning before classes begin, during lunch, during grab and go breakfast and after school. Cell phones must be turned off when entering a classroom. Cell phones and iPods are not to be used during class time unless teachers have designated their use for student work. Cell phones may not be used during assemblies. Students may not have phone out in hallway. See Discipline Policy for procedures.
Cell phones and/or other recording devices may not be used during school hours to make and/or publish audio and/or video recordings of students or employees without the expressed permission of the school principal or administrator and the person(s) being recorded. No audio and/or video recording shall be made on a school bus by students using cell phones and/or other recording devices, without the school bus operator's permission, as well. School hours also include:
- the time during which students are being transported on school buses.
- the time during which students are waiting to board a school bus.
- the time during which students have exited a school bus until they arrive at home.
- the time during which students are on school property before classes, time during which students are between classes, and the time during which students are on school property after school.
Recordings made for the purpose of embarrassing, bullying, intimidation, or harassing others shall not be tolerated.
The use of cell phone devices for audio calls and texting made for the purpose of embarrassing, bullying, intimidation, or harassing others shall not be tolerated.
This policy is not intended to prohibit the recording of student events for public viewing. Such events are designed for public viewings do not generally involve issues of student confidentiality.
